It’s a mile of white sand with calm, crystal-clear waters, protected by a sandbar. If you bring your own snorkel goggles and gear and just want to snorkel from the beach, your best option is Mahahual beach. A boat usually takes 10 or so snorkelers out for about an hour. If you take a short taxi ride downtown you can get better rates. Each vendor has their own favorite location and know the best snorkeling spots. One of the best options is to take a boat about 10 minutes outside of town.
